always keep your childish innocence…?
A trip to Chinatown by car always involves quite a bit of planning, especially on a weekday morning with a time crunch. You need to be prepared to fight for parking. You need to prepare to pay out a kidney for that parking spot. You need to know where you’re going to go and what you’re going to buy.
My reaction is to think to myself, “Urgh, wish we could fold up the car or something, parking’s gonna cost a fortune… Why can’t public transport be cheaper and lead right to our front door? Why can’t groceries magically weigh nothing? Ughghghhhhh.”
Meanwhile, Mom’s reaction is to say, “I want to go to Ichiban*!”
(* She means Aji Ichiban. I guess this post won’t be funny unless you know that Aji Ichiban is basically a candy store.)
